Born on January 9th 1935 Multi faceted Dick Enberg was born He attended Central Michigan University and IU. The first time I heard Dick Enberg was in the mid-1970,s over Los Angeles station 710 KMPC
broadcasting games for The California Angels and UCLA Bruins. The thing about Enberg is he is always pleasant to listen to and he covers sports well. Growing up in Southern California in the small town of Carpinteria California, The voices of the game for me were Scully,Dogget , and Porter in the booth for Dodger games. Chick Hearn High above the Western Sideline at the Fabulous Forum welcoming me to another game in Inglewood Ca. The Showtime Lakers were all the rage in those days. Enberg is now doing local broadcasts for the Padres for the last 2 seasons. This required him to leave March Madness and NFL football was never the same without him and former Ram Merlin Olsen. Dick also has done Wembeldon and the French Open. 2011 will be his last Wembeldon in 2011. The great voices of the game are for the most part story tellers. Tonight he will be at Petco Park covering for television the Mariners, Padres interleauge game If you have the MLB Extra inning package you might want ot tune in to hear Enberg broadcast the game. here is a clipfrom the 1971-79 quiz program Sports Challenge
