Emptying the Noggin
• Another solid night for the Jazz. Two nights in a row they made the other team wilt. The Jazz are defining themselves as a tough team that will battle you and if they hold that they will win a lot of games simply based on attrition. Don’t discount those wins they are worth a lot in this type of season. The next two opponents are playing on back to backs and if the Jazz make it tough they have a chance to make those teams wilt as well.
• Paul Millsap continues his fabulous play. Tonight he did everything you could imagine. He scored from each block, he drove with each hand, he got offensive rebounds to score, he took a turnover coast to coast with the dribble.
• Jazz have been very fortunate with the amount of marquee players who have missed games in this building this year, but you still have to take advantage of those opportunities.
• Jazz never lost focus defensively – holding the Clippers to 33 points in the 2nd half. Tyrone let them have a lot of fun in the 2nd half when this became a blow out, if they had stopped playing defense the fun would have been stopped as well.
• CJ Miles first four shots were all in the paint and all were layup type shots. That set the tone for his evening. I loved CJ’s rebounding tonight.
• Raja Bell’s defense on Chauncey Billiups was a huge part of the Jazz win tonight. In the 8:37 of the 1st quarter Raja guarded Billups he was 1 for 4 and then he was 0 for 2 in the 3rd quarter before he committed a 4th foul so he could sit down and rest for the rest of the night. Raja held him to 1 of 6 – nice work by Tyrone Corbin to put Raja on Chauncey and have Devin guard Randy Foye.
• Once Billups went out of the game the game was over and he committed the foul out of frustration on the fast break by Devin Harris.
• The alley opps were really fun – the best was the Tinsley to Evans from behind half court.
• Did I mention Millsap is a stud
• Gordon didn’t get going tonight and Ron Boone felt strongly before the game we were about to see a break out from him, but it didn’t happen
• Jazz played Watson and Harris together for the first time all year and it allowed Harris to be a jump shooter and he hit 4 15 to 17 foot jumpers.
• Kanter battling Reggie Evans was quite a watch. Kanter had things happen to him tonight he could have never imagined.
• Please come out the arena this is great to see – It is the season you never saw coming.
