MLB free agency collusion http://voices.yahoo.com/players-union-alleges-mlb-collusion-against-free-agents-650413.html
Hello, I felt in this hour of NBA collision with collusion The bright lights of Los Angeles and the extended regional audience that I am part of and by virtue of upbringing was a part of the Laker showtime days of the 1980,s have now seen The Basketball Czar David Stern make a mockery of a sport that he tries to promote on a worlwide basis. While not a Stern fan on the basis of his collusive tactics with Clay Bennett and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to remove the Seattle Sonics from Seattle in 2008. The way I see it
Mr Stern has a large PR problem trying to rehabilitate the image of a leauge that has had 2 work stopages on his watch. 2. As an employee of the Owners he is contractually obligated to represent the intrests of the owners. 3. Because of the NBA,s inability to find an owner for the New Orleans Hornets the NBA owns the Hornets thus making King David the defacto owner of the franchise. In terms and language the average fan can understand Lets say for the sake of this discussion you are Chris Paul and you have a chance to be hired by a team that can pay you more. Fair market capitalism should allow you to make as much money as possible and take your skills to the market. But rival team owners in this case Dan Gilbert, and Mark Cuban petition Stern in E-mails crying like insolent tantrum prone children that it is not fair to the smaller markets that a star worth millions in Basketball related income is worth more to the Hornets in terms of team value and a selling point to any new perspective owner coming into town . King David Stern is involved in a clear conflict of interest. . If he lets Paul opt out of his contract the value of the Hornet franchise is impacted negatively thus the costituency Stern represents loses a lot of cash. not purely basketball reasons. Historically we can look to OF Curt Flood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwhmfqKV-x0 here is the vidieo. The slave master David Stern and the monetary Share Cropping of the services of Chris Paul is wrong. Curt Flood paid a high price and more collusive activity in the 1980,s has resulted in players being able to negotiate the terms of there employment. Players are not endentured servants hired to work on a 94-50 wooden floor or field and glean the millions of hard earned fan dollars for ignorant white ownership
In closing Chris Paul should go to Court and win because those that have gone before him like OF Curt Flood paved the way for a better day. Something Stern and his consituency are not willing to see or will not grasp
